Microwaves heat unevenly?
Who knew?

You can actually measure the speed of light using the uneven heating of a microwave.
Cover a plate with chocolate chips. Nuke it, but make sure it doesn't spin. Measure the distance from one unmelted group to an adjacent one, or one melted group to the next. That's a half-wavelength of the microwaves. Look on the back, and see if it gives you the frequency of the microwaves.
c = l * f
Where c is the speed of light, l is the wavelength (multiply your measurement by 2) in meters, and f is the frequency in Hertz. Voila![/quote]
