Conservative announce new legislation, Libs push green shift, NDP blast both parties but dont offer any solutions and the greens dont even show on the radar. Business as usual I guess. I love the picture of Layton though He looks like extra from Night of the Living Dead II

Actually Layton addressed gas price fixing with a proposed policy over a week ago, Eisensapper. The announcement Harper made to day is largely a reaction to that.

I never even heard about it, do ya have a link?

Impossible.
Everyone know gas companies are on the up and up, and would never revert to price fixing to help their bottom line. It's just been a major coincidence that for the past 30 years they all charge the exact same prices in a specific area. (sarcasm off)

So for the last two years it never occured to Harper to crack down on price fixing? Maybe it is because they foot his bills?
I would like to believe it but Harper's version of cracking down on the tits he's been sucking on will bet to punish and throw in jail the 16 and 17 year old gas jockies in charge of changing the signs.

$1: I never even heard about it, do ya have a link? It was on CPAC, CBC and CTV around Sept 12 or 13. It was the same day that Harper admitted it looked like there was gouging going on, but didn't have an answer as to what he'd do about it. Am I the only actually following the election? Anyway, I did a google and found you a link: $1: NDP Leader Jack Layton jumped on the issue as he unveiled a populist strategy to end consumer rip-offs, including what he called gouging at the gas pump.
"It's time somebody stood up to these companies and these gougers," Layton said, adding that Harper is more interested in giving tax breaks to oil companies than helping motorists.
Layton said an NDP government would create a price-monitoring agency to watch fuel prices, noting that the cost of a litre of gasoline has doubled in the past decade, pouring record profits into the coffers of the big oil companies. http://www.thestar.com/FederalElection/article/498681

If it doesn't get done in Harpers first two years it's because he's either on the take or incompetent.

The Competition Bureau isn't a Harper invention, mtbr, and there is no indication that they were investigating at Harper's behest. It's kind of like giving me credit for inventing trees because there's books in my house. $1: Hmmm my Conservative Rhetoric shield took big hit with that one . Thanks Rev, Its hard to follow the NPD out here I dont think they even running out where I am. Press coverage is always a problem, especially for the NDP since they don't have a partisan press outlet on their side. That's part of the reason why CPAC is so great...they just show up where the leaders are and turn on the cameras. Everybody gets covered.

Seven different grocery stores in my area, were selling bananas last week at 59 cents a pound. Three major corporations own all the stores. NOT ONE was selling the bananas at 57 cents, or 55 cents....fixed ?....rigged ? An eighth store was selling bananas at 49 cents, but they were already brown. I noticed lean ground beef exactly the same price at five of the stores....fixed ?....rigged ? BTW, most of this info I got from flyers...gas is too expensive to drive around comparing prices....oh yeah...gas was 13 cents a liter cheaper in Owen Sound on Thursday than in Meaford....but the savings would have been mostly offset by the 50km round trip to buy it.

So are you saying that Harper is wrong about price-fixing, Robmik?
