Most of Russia's argression is directed to the U.S., if any war was started. I think the U.S. would be going to war to defend itself, not its NATO allies.

I don't see anything wrong with what she is saying nor do I see this as a radical departure of previous doctrine. The current VP doesn't bother with talking to ABC he just shoots you in the face. Besides the Russkies are only playing Blackjack in the US backyard.

Personally, I'd rather elect somebody whos not talking about going to war with ANOTHER country while foaming at the mouth. Russia is a problem right now, but that needs to be dealt with diplomaticly and not militarily. Which apparently Palin supports the military side, hell maybe even will preach the Russia war to be another one of gods wars.

If diplomacy doesn't work, then you can always turn to the military. Point being is, you try diplomacy first and preach about how it will be handled diplomaticly. War should be the last option, and the last thing to talk about... not the first.

It's nice to see Palin step up to the Russia situation, I just don't think America should have another bat shit crazy warmonger as a decision maker is all.

Russian bombers and fighters have flown through NORAD airspace since the end of WW2, Americans responded with SR-71 and U-2 flights into Soviet/Russian airspace, its a game. If Hugo wants to ally himself with Russia why does it matter?

They have never based them there since the end of the cold war. They have only recently restarted parols down our coasts but they always fly back to Russia. Now they are taking it to the next step.

I agree. In fact wouldn't any NATO ally be expected to answer pretty much the same as Palin when she says, "I mean, that is the agreement when you are a NATO ally, is if another country is attacked, you're going to be expected to be called upon and help,"...

Wouldn't this even apply to Canada? I mean wouldn't we say pretty much the same thing? True, Russia would be less worried, but if asked wouldn't our guy say something pretty much like what Palin said? I don't understand what the problem is just because it's Palin saying it.

I'm not seeing the problem here. For the last year or so we've had no end of Russian diplomats, military leaders, and government leaders threatening war with various NATO nations and with other nations and now one of ours tells them that if they attack one of our treaty partners we'll actually honor our committment and defend said treaty partner?

Outrageous!

Palin should take her cues from those people on this site who think that answering Russian aggression is the wrong thing to do and she should institute a policy of 'cut and run' if Russia attacks someone who might need us.
