Sounds like Danny's still a little pissed about the Tories being taken over by Western Canadians, since everyone in Eastern Canada knows, Western Canada is only there to supply raw materials and transfer payments to keep Provinces like Nfld afloat.

Maybe it's time for him to face reality. Brian Mulroney's gone, along with his brand of Eastern Canadian gets preferential treatment Government.

Sounds to me like Danny Williams doesn't like being lied to and screwed over. Harper said that the worst fraud was a promise not kept. Harper made promises in writing. He refused to keep those promises. Harper is a fraud, by his own account.

$1:
It didn't take long for Williams to make a splash on the federal scene after becoming premier. Williams was furious that Martin made election promises in June 2004 to give Newfoundland and Labrador royalties from offshore oil developments, then backtracked at a First Ministers' meeting in Ottawa. So he stormed out of the meeting. "Our pride can't be bought…. We won't say yes to less," Williams told reporters in October 2004. "We had a commitment and [the prime minister] has broken that commitment."

It appears that Mr. Harper isn't the only one who has "allegedly" lied to Mr. Williams and BTW my opinion of Mr Williams still stands. He's a grandstanding prima donna who is only out to make a name for himself and his province at the expense of the rest of Canada.

He has illusions of grandeur and probably can't see them fufilled if Western Canadians are well represented in the Federal Conservative Party.

Martin did lie to Williams, and he paid a political price for it. Part of that political price was having Harper go after him for lying to Williams.

The Tories are gonna keep a seat on the Island, so so much for Danny's ABC campaign.

Yet our party elected a social mess like Dion to lead us, without a sense of humour, personality or common sense whatsoever. Chretien, Tobin, Manley or Rock would have wiped the floor with Harper in '06 and '08

I'm in the strange position wishing my Leafs and Liberals lose for better draft picks and a better leader. I don't think either need my help.

Allan Rock or Manley? Get serious. Allan is the flim flam man who is crazy about gun control and is friendly in that creepy summer camp councilor who is too frisky with the boys kinda way. Manley is not exactly what I would consider outgoing either. He can speak English but he would be even more introverted than Dion.

hmmmmmm.......autocrat? Let's see here.........autocrat..........See Pierre Trudeau and the Liberal Party of Canada. I blame Kenmit's poor choice of words on his spotty knowledge of English.

I am not a Rock supporter at all, but he can work the backrooms and mobilize a party, and he isn't Iggy or Stephane.

I would take a bullet for Manley, he is by far Harper's equal on delving into policy minutia, despite what you say - he is very personable, fully bilingual, and I think people are naturally at ease with him and trust him. Even the PCs and Canadian Alliance admitted he was the calming effect after 9/11 and his relations with Colin Powell were exactly what Canadians wanted and needed. Manley is reasonable, measured and effective - no bluster or ego. I can think of very few Canadian politicians like him. Maybe Ed Broadbent, Art Eggleton waaay back when he was Toronto's last decent Mayor and a few Premiers over the last couple decades cross Canada.
