Good o'l Toronto for you, violence and gangs are stepping up and increasing rapidly in the last 10-20 years and it really shows. My old high-school Thompson had this two buildings, that were connected by this glass walkway that you could see outside in. Which had multiple bullet holes in it, the school was filled drug dealers. Infact every hallway you walked by had about 3-4 dealers lockers in it. It was mostly filled with Tamil gangs, but I think there was a black one as well. Get a couple of deaths per year from the school, one that I remember was a kid was drowned in his pool. Best of all was there was another high-school directly across from Thompson that was just like it. They infact practicly even shared the same football field and all the gangs/groups from Bendale and Thompson were constantly going at it. The gangs at these schools wern't any of those Typical American 4 life gangs. They had attributes of a gang, but were more of a group. You smoked, drank and chilled with a group, you always had to get there backs and they will always get yours. Which there was a lot of groups, that all kept getting angry at each other. So there was a lot of fights/killings over that. One of my friends sister at the school was stabbed 3 times in the front of the school where all the moms drop off there kids. One in the leg, one in the hand and I forget where she got the third one.

School has metal detectors on every entrance, security gaurds patrolling the school, everybody had to wear school I.D. cards to keep out other people from entering the school as causing trouble. There was always atleast 2 cop cars sitting outside the school during lunch times, and when school was over. Another cop car sitting outside of McDonalds which was right across the street and where everybody hung out.

Security was tight in that area, anyways point being is. While violence and gangs are increasing, I would get use to news like this because its just going to keep happening.
