Way lower than the clouds.. Up his ass is more like it.

So instead of skimming a billion dollar slush fund from a tax that was supposed to be revenue neutral, Harper just chopped a redundant tax that should have been removed years ago.
The price of everything doesn't go up at the risk of the Feds not having another record surplus, off the overtaxed backs of Canadian workers.
Trust an economist to do the right thing.

so your telling me you are not benefiting from 5% GST?

ok then please write to your MP and demand to pay 7% GST on all of your goods instead.

the rest of the country will continue to enjoy some tax relief. You clearly make too much money and don't need these breaks.

Funny how a Lib thinks...2% as a reduction is
meaningless. So a 2% increase in the GST, to 9%,
would have been acceptable ? ( Dion's greenshit
hocus-pocus could be looked on as the equivalent of
a GST increase to 9% for many ...)

Doing what is good for Canadians is not buying votes. It's why we voted him in. Thanks Harper.

Just like the GST cut, the Canadian consumer will not see any savings from this. The oil companies will get another 2 cents a litre.

Every time you post something, echo's of Chretien saying.. "And we'll remove the GST" keep ringing in my ears.

I'll take not paying more taxes before a promice to give it back any day.

I'm not sure why I should be worried about whether Chretien was pro-mice or not. Personally I'm anti-mice, but we've got some cats around so it doesn't come up much.

I was never pro-Chretien either, although I'm not sure if cats would keep him away or not. I guess the dogs would though.

R u fucken drunk?

When the wife and I bought our new washer dryer front loaders because our old dryer when to the big appliance store in the sky, we saved almost $75 on that 2% reduction.

thinking that 2% cut on the GST has no impact is akin to saying why should I take back the bottles the deposit is only 10 cents.

I know people who BOUGHT vehicles just from 'bottle return' money.

$100.00 - 2% = $2.00

It adds up quick.

Government isn't spelled G-O-D.

Most of the prices went up by the same amount as the GST came down. If the Conservatives win, they'll make a big announcement and the price of diesel will drop two cents. Within a week, it will go back up and the saving will be lost. It amounts to nothing in savings for the consumer.

This whole thing looks like it was written on the back of a napkin though. The Conservatives didn't get the bump they were hoping for and were off to a rough start, so they came out with what amounts to a cheap political stunt.

Of course the story was mostly lost because of the crass graphics on the Conservative website, so even the stunt fell flat.

Wow! 2 cents! Now I can buy that Ferrari!

With Diesel almost 50 cents a litre higher than last summer, 2 cents is not going to do much except put us farther in the hole...
