I can hardly wait for Eric Margolis to explain how Russia
would be justified in fomenting trouble in Ukraine....to
justify armed occupation in "certain areas"...and how soon
Russia will have no choice but to invade Poland. It's because
America is evil, isn't it, Eric ?

popping up in the Eastern Ukraine.

Dam 8O losing Ukraine was pretty much the final railroad spike into the collapse of the old Soviet Union

Tzar Putin wants to build a new empire and he sees Eastern Europe as Russia's property.

Ironically, the best way to save Ukraine is to grant them full NATO membership. Had Georgia been a full NATO member the Russians would not have invaded them.

Most analysts cautioned against scare-mongering...

Too bad they weren't the ones quoted in this little bit of 'news'

After seeing Angela Merkel pushing for Georgia to be a part of NATO, I think it's on the cards that the Ukraine will be allowed in. (Nice to see that she at least has some balls! Metaphorically speaking of course!)

Despite some points of view, Europe and NATO have been well rattled by this Russian invasion. It has also hardened attitudes against the new imperialistic bear.

Very ironic that it was the 40th anniversary of the "Prague Spring" yesterday.
It would appear that Putin likes the old ways, Hungary '56, Prague '68, Georgia '08!

Maybe the whole invasion was his way of saying 'happy anniversary' to Europe, bless that old KGB guy and his sense of fun!
