That's my plan. I'd love to volunteer, even though the Windsor district is a pukey orange color.

Could be interesting, another minority would be sexy prospect. I'm loving minority governments. No party can really push anything too leftie or rightie. Keep it centrist baby.

Ontario will vote all red across the board this year, so it could be the swing vote than tosses the libs the lead.

Yes, Dion has proven to be weak. He's a poor communicator, despised in Quebec and consistently out-strategized by Harper. I don't think a summer election is in the works, becasue a new leader would need to consoldiate the party, raise money and rally the troops, so the Liberals would be laothe to call one. The Conservatives don't have much prospect of more than a minority at this point, but they could gamble if they can stay clear of scandal.

I think Dion is either going to have to fish or cut bait pretty soon here. He is losing more and more credibility by the day by postponing the inevitable.

I don't actually think he will win if he hits the polls right now but even at best the most the conservatives could hope for would be to maintain the status quo. This would give the Lib's a chance to turf Dion and go into the next minority with a newly elected leader. After that it would be just a matter of time, maybe a year or two, for them to get organized and to bring the minority conservatives down.

Like it or lump it the Lib's aren't going any where with Dion at the helm and about the only way they are going to get rid of him with out a nasty leadership battle would be to trigger an election. Once the lib's have new leadership they will pretty much be guarantied a win during the next election unless the new leader screws up royally.

I agree. But politicians are like gamblers. Always believing that the big roll is just around the corner. I'm sure right now Stephie believes that if he just hangs in there Harper will plummet in the polls and he will coast to victory. All his advisers know that is not so and recognize, like you, they have to dump him before they can hope to win an election.

lol...kenmore, for crying out loud.

Okay maybe you'll understand this comparison.

Immigration and Muslims demanding reasonable accommodation, you go way out of the Liberal Party line, and (like it or not) are Conservative on that.

That's the same thing with me.

I'm pretty much a Conservative on everything except equality, tolerance, gay rights (the only social issue I lean right on is abortion), etc. Its my Liberal exception.

Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I have to be a Liberal, lol...and there are many other gay conservatives, haha.

Oh and I refuse to support the Republicans, and in the United States my support was behind Hillary Clinton, and now that she is out, I'm apathetic.

 I just had to snicker a bit at kenmore's response. Westman your dead on. Just because you support one party or another doesn't make you a hard core ultra Conservative or Liberal for that matter.

Personally I'd like to think that the majority of voters are like myself. Sure you may gravitate to one party or the other mainly do to their policies but it doesn't necessarily mean that you agree with everything they stand for nor does it mean that you should be lumped into hard core Conservative or Liberal stereotype.

Myself I currently support the Conservatives for many reasons. I'm still a bit pissed about the sponsorship scandal, I don't believe in Kyoto nor do I believe in a carbon tax, I believe in Senate reform, I believe in smaller government (which I will admit Harper hasn't delivered on) and lower taxes.

That being said it doesn't mean that I'm anti homosexual or anti immigrant which would traditionally fall under the typical Conservative stereotype.

If there is one trend I truly hope Canadians do not follow is the one that is very predominant now in the US where people vote for a party simply due to there allegiances to that party regardless of what their policies maybe. I believe elected officials should have to earn my vote and they should not count on me to vote for them simply because they are with party x or y.

if you made a list of what is important to you and did the pro and con.. liberal or ndp would be the choice .. at least for me..liberals are middle of the road and a party for equality for all canadians.. they offer a much better way for social issues than the tories..

Canada ignores concern about biofuels

We sent ONE GUY to the World Food Security Conference in Rome. We used to host this. I expect a federal government to do more than knit on issues that matter. Instead I am hearing they are in bead with the lobbyists from the US over copyright. Down in the US they are taking peoples homes away for downloading songs. I know the US doesn't know the difference between 12 year olds on dad's computer and some chop shop in Cambodia making forged DVD's by the truckload but that doesn't mean I am willing to except the same clumsiness up here.

New U.S.-style legislation could impose serious penalties for illegal downloading

I don't recall that being a part of the big 5 promises and there has been ZERO public consultation about this. I thought for a time that this government might lead the way, well the only thing it's going to lead is out the door at this rate. The only thing they have got right to some degree is Afghanistan and that's just not enough.
