Fuck this disgusts me. How in the hell do you let someone you love suffer immense pain in the name of some bloody religion. How the hell do they sleep at night.

I don't think it's a religion thing because this sort thing spans all religions. The relatives hope that he comes out and they can't reconcile "murdering him" by pulling the plug. It's somehow more palitable to pay the huge costs and absolve you're self of the moral question of the greater good.
While I admit the man's prospets are sad, I question the torture a brain dead, drug addled patient feels. I also question the moralty of doctors who may pay lip service to customer care, will still keep you waiting 2 hours for a 3 minuit diagnosis that ends with pills for you and a nice cruise for the doctors family.
