Hey Tritium, if you are going to accuse me and others of making some assumptions, the least you can do is link to what we have allegedly said lest you look like a retard.

It seems strange that I would say the U.S. slowdown wouldn't affect Canada since the town I live in is a forest town that is absolutely reeling from the affects.

What do you expect from the country that epitomizes the "hewers of wood, drawers of water" image......?

Eat dirt RUEZ. post1187526

btw, here in Calgary housing sales have slowed down to where developers are now not able to sell out new condo units within the first few months as they once did.

Housing and economy are getting closer to a recession in Canada because the U.S. buyers of lumber, autos, trucks have slowed down.

Canada is very much dependant on the U.S. economy, even if we want to think we can do without them. You can thank NAFTA for that.

That's your proof?
$1:
It may not hit Canada. Banks don't offer a sub-prime mortgage here like they do there
My quote shows that I was talking about the mortgage problem hitting Canada like they have the U.S., not that Canada wouldn't be affected by what's happening in the U.S. Nice try though. Also by saying "it may not hit Canada" I was not claiming Canada wouldn't be affected. Come back when you have something else.

Of course, just like in "Wag the Dog"

maybe this is all just a little hysteria-mongering.

We are getting dangerously clsoe to the point where more people sell things than make things. Those manufacturing jobs give Canada strength and prosperiity that can't be matched in sales, tourism and the wide scope of "service" industry.

I also laugh at the idea that the "green" economy is going to somehow bring prosperity to all Canadians. Most likely, a very small few will make a huge ammount of money and the rest of us will be picking up their discarded cans by the side of the road.
