WOW!! Under NAFTA Canada lost manufacturing jobs that paid $25 hr to be replaced by $8hr jobs such as call centers.

Now the call centers are closing, so what is next.

8 year old kids missing school to manufacture closes for WalMart...

You're nuts, for one thing those manufacturing jobs were far overpaid for the work they did, and second, I can guarantee you that call centre is going to India, and not Mexico

Edit: Actually, if the comment was read properly, so that means I have no idea. The call centre was supposed to move to India a long time ago, but since nobody likes that, they opened those two up, but since the US got alot cheaper, and Canadian labour is ALOT more expensive, they're going back to the USA.

So basically this really has nothing to do with NAFTA.

I hear Canadian's a stilling bending over and taking it up the ass, as the U.S. rapes all of Canadas resources and sells it back to dumb ass Albertans at a premium.

91 cents a liter in Texas isn't exactly cheap ..3.45 a US gallon they must be spittin wooden nickels around there

Put the queers back in the closet and bring in the Unions and protectionism for Canadian jobs.

Get rid of the Eurotrash metric system, and have the Imperial measurement as the main standard in Canada..

Cut immigration in Canada by half and increase the baby bonus for Canadian families.

Secure and protect Canada's resources for Canadians and our children and childrens children.

Quadruple Canada military size, build a better infrastructure across Canada and promote trade East and West... not North & South.

Rename Quebec, "We Own You" and ship all the French back to France, or just drop them off the Canadian coast on Baie De Plaisance.

No to unions, no opinion with the metric system, agreed with the immigration and such, meh to the protecting resources, and No to the East West trade, since a market of 300 million is better than a market of 30 million. And the Quebec thing, no since I'm half French.

You're right, wages are low and most of us wouldn't want to work for that. That being said, 200 years ago labor in this country wasn't much different. Now that we're on the other end, sending off cheap, no skill jobs to Third World countries, we're bitching since we are losing them, yet we seem to be doing well without $45 an hour jobs that puts a tire on a car and bolts it in. And unions breed laziness.

LOL, you are 18, what the hell would you know about that...what work did they do? Stand on their feet in one spot for 8 to 10 hours? Only allowed to leave their work station when someone comes along to relieve them(cover their work during their break)? Having to accomplish their work in 30 seconds or less with 100% accuracy with no chance to go back and correct any mistake and then do that exact same thing another 500 times before the end of their shift? Work the afternoon shift for months on end and hope they don't get forced to work Saturday every week so they get at least 2 days in a row to spend with their families?

And, people making $10 to $15 an hour are getting laid off too, and these folks would be the majority...

Shouldn't any hardworking adult that works full-time and budgets prudently have the opportunity to purchase a house and car, raise a family and meet all their families needs?

If they do honest work, sure. But getting protected by the union for doing half assed work? Then no

And God I must of missed the difficulty of doing the same thing over and over again. THAT must be why they deserve $20 an hour. Because they're learning so many new things.
