This is a much needed capability that we have been missing. The only thing I can see possibly is that it is too few. Any one have any thoughts?

SigPig, I agree it is too few as you could put that many at each major army base in Canada which would allow for long term training to make our soldiers more proficient.

We could also use about 100,000 new recruits...any takers?

We had 8, (7 after a crash) between 447 & 450 squadrons from 1974 - 1991 when we sold them to the Dutch, so this is an improvement number wise. But the truth is there is never enough tactical airlift. Expect to see two squadrons, 1 in Alberta, and 1 in Ontario/Quebec. Should be an announcement this month on a "short term" interim lend/lease arangement to have some CH47s in theatre this year. This agreement is separate from the MHLH project addressed in the announcement
