So because he had no original plans to them attend he's a leader????

$1:
Prime Minister Stephen Harper has called on China to respect human rights but suggested it is premature to think of boycotting the 2008 Olympics opening ceremonies -- though he said he has no plans to personally attend the event.

Nice try though...

Well, I for one am glad he did that. Make a stand on the Tibet thing but don't hurt the chances of the athletes who have worked so hard to get there.

$1:
The German chancellor, Angela Merkel, yesterday became the first world leader to decide not to attend the Olympics in Beijing.
...
Donald Tusk, Poland's prime minister, became the first EU head of government to announce a boycott on Thursday and he was promptly joined by President Václav Klaus of the Czech Republic, who had previously promised to travel to Beijing.

I guess that makes Harper #4.

It's not so much anti-China but standing up for the right thing.
Considering that the Dahli Lama is an honorary Canadian citizen, I would be ashamed if our leaders swept what China is doing to his people under the covers.
I'm very proud to see Canada standing up for what is right.

$1:
"There has been no cabinet discussion of this. No cabinet discussion is planned. I don't anticipate any kind of boycott of the Games themselves," he told a news conference, saying that not even the Dalai Lama, the Tibetan spiritual leader, was calling for athletes to stay away.

"Experience would suggest that such boycotts are generally not effective and really in the end only harm the athletes involved who have trained for so many years to compete in these events. So I don't see either in this country or internationally a push for that," he said.

You'll eat this post when they send CPC-MP (retired) Randy White as their representative. I'm sure he can bring along something from his unwilling organ donor presentations. :-)

Seriously, the atheletes should go, and even Gordo. Besides, Besides, we have more chances to make the point if we do go than if we don't.

My money is on DION, if he is not replaced by then, going and trying to represent himself as Canada's official representative.
Expect Gordo and McSquinty to be part of DION' entourage.

Seeing as you've eaten this article twice already, I don't think there will be all that much left for me...
