Then please explain to us.
There are many Serbians immigrants around my area, I heard a lot about it.
The three main words they used were 'hate, terrorists, and bastards.' Their speech was also seriously filled with nationalism, an ideology based on irrationality just like religious extremists.
ok, open the history books and go back to 1389............
before Columbus, before Mayflower, before lots.
Ottoman Turks defeat Christian Serbs in Kosovo, which was Serb territory.
btw, the Turks go all the way to Vienna before they are stopped, in 14something.
1878.. Kosovo is over 90% Serb, and becomes not for the first time
officially part of Serbia... but is the last time it changes hands.
The Albanians in Serbia begin having babies.. lots of them.. kinda like the Palestinians.
Slowly, the balance of population shifts, until now the region is 90% Albanian.
the 'hate' is the triple crown...linguistic, cultural, religous differences..
only thing missing for the grand slam is skin color..
'terrorists', obviously refers to the KLA kosovo liberation army, which for the past number of years has been operating as an insurgent group inside Kosovo..
attacking police, murdering civilians, etc etc.
'bastards' is kinda obvious
their nationalism goes very deep into their history.. although they were defeated by the Turks, Serbs beleive they were instrumental in stopping the
invasion of Islam in Europe..
having lived here for a while, i havent found anyone who contradicts this idea.
They have been attacked by Turks, Christians (Serbs are Orthodox),
and more recently by Germans, and now of course by us..
and they continue to survive.. it is more than a thousand years of this..
blood, invasion, conquest, defeat, victory
In Canada, by comparison, we have no idea what nationalism really is..
probably why we find it a bit much when we see it.
