<br><br>Hi, my name is Gareth Lewis, I'm 24 yrs old from Calgary Alberta and a graduate of International Relations and Media Production from UBC.
I've had some unique experiences working in international affairs: participating in policy conferences at West Point US Military Academy, a winning model NATO simulation in Washington DC, making films in rural Cuba, researching human rights at the Human Security Center and was the recipient of the 2007 Dalton Camp Award.
My main idea for this contest centers around the creation of a Canadian Economic Union to eliminate the provincial trade barriers that are holding back our economy.
Although we are in a strong economic period, the Bank of Canada predicts an economic slowdown for 2008, and we need to be proactive to prevent Canada from falling behind.
What we need more of is a government that rethinks bloated spending programs, reduces economic intervention and encourages policies that promote freedom of choice.
