When an Aegis pours six million watts of energy down a beam the width of a pencil they are adamantly expressing their displeasure and not at all trying to detect anyone.

Ivan used to do this a lot but much closer than 2000 ft. The object was setting up a photo showing their Bear over-flying a flat-top. One would pose and the other take a picture. Usually, there was a USN fighter in close formation with the first Bear to spoil the shot.

I agree with Bart, the Ruskie aircrews are likely sterile now or they will have some weird looking kids.
