Still--Dion's right. The allied forces can't win the war as long as the Taliban can disappear into Pakistan.

Come on tell us the plan to win the war with a non-combat roll.

Keep pointing fingers Pakistan... don't bother cleaning up your own dam mess as long as every one else in the world has to clean your diapers. Have the ISI run amok.

That's not really my job. Presumably the guys with a bunch of epaulettes are paid big bucks to win the war. Presumably they know about tanks and tactics than I do. Shouldn't they be figuring that out? It seems to me they are content with an interminable struggle there for the foreseeable future. That's not showing much will to win, in my books. Why have a shit hemmorhage when someone states that as long as the Taliban can disappear over the border, we're not going to eradicate them? It seems like a logical statement to me. It's something soldiers that have been there have told me.

Screw Pakistan--they can't look after their own country and they sold nuclear weapons to alll comers.

Are we in this war to win it, or to just hold a placemarker?

i think hillier hinted at both Iran and Pakistan being possibilities for future war expansion because of weapons supplies across the border and taliban dissapearing across the borders.

No doubt the guys with ranks want to move in, but the politicians wont allow it.

Thats right and there is nothing like trying to fight a war with one hand tied behind your back.

So now you have gone from ridiculing Dion for supposedly hinting at invading Pakistan to blaming the politicians for not supporting a military mission to both Iran and Pakistan.

Sounds like the person making this up as he goes along isn't Dion.

non-combat ? i know that is the big joke , especially when the terrorists use hidden bombs and are armed with a seemingly never ending supply of weapons .

I think the point of ridiculing Dion was his constant flip flops. he says he wants the Afghan mission to end, yet advocates a Pakistan invasion. You can't conceivably do both (unless his plan was to invade Pakistan with 2500 troops from Afghanistan).

First off, if you want flip-flops then Harper is your man.

Second, He never ever said invade. Thats a BS partisan hackery lie by people willing to say anything to attack the Liberals.

Third, if you cannot give an accurat eposition of the Liberal position then don't say anything. the NDP wants a complete withdrawl while the Liberals want a withdrawl from front-line combat and our role shifted to more emphasize training the ANA and reconstruction efforts and general security.

In essence, making the Afghan army and gov't directly responsible for their country.

Imagine that. Expecting the citizens of a country to assume control over it.

I'm sure we as Canadians would sit back and allow another nation to take centre stage if we were in their situation.

The problem is the forces are always trying to play politics, they should have been entering the border region from the start but it's too damn late now. Could you imagine the up roar from the left if that was done from the beginning. That would have had the same criticism as the US wanting to march to Baghdad during the first gulf war.
