This is why any incident that does take place there needs a few days of a cooling off before action takes place. Too many people wanting to pull the trigger so bad.
After the
Cole attack no one in their right mind should be closing on a US warship without expecting live weapons to be trained on them. Part of the blame for the incident is in how the Iranians approached the US ships. They came at them at high speed and broadside to them when courtesy demands that they close to a parallel course without aiming their bows directly at the ships they wish to ID.
Aiming your bow at another ship is the maritime equivalent of aiming a gun at them. It is considered a hostile act all on its own.
And kindly set aside your anti-American animus for a moment because it is a hostile act no matter who they do it to.
For sure, when directly threatened like they were they need to respond. It's the aftermath, especially the rhetoric, that needs to be toned down afterwards. More importantly though, the Public needs to not jump to the same conclusions that are given to them by the Government/Military, especially with the current Admin.
