May they rest in peace and my condolences to their families.

Also, I'd like to know what some of you think about this?
"Five Canadian soldiers have been killed in light armored vehicle rollovers. Should the vehicle be banned from combat zones?"
It's a poll from the CNews website, basic "yes" or "no" answer choices. It scared me that 38% of people voted "yes." I'm just wondering how many people don't understand what an LAV is...
Your thoughts?

Ya, I saw that too and was also very surprised. Im not sure its that they don't know what a LAV is but rather the wording of the question. It says "5 Canadians killed..." therefore the average joe thinks "OMG these things are death traps!!!!". Not that Canadian troops haven't been known to used equipment of questionable safety (the Iltis in the early part of this mission comes to mind), so they assume its just more of the same. However, the LAV is a quality piece of kit that has saved many more troops then the 5 killed in these unfortunate accidents which could have happened on a base here in Canada just as easily.

Question should read: "Five Hundred Canadian soldiers have been saved in light armored vehicle encounters with IEDs. Should the vehicle be banned from combat zones?"

That poll is clear proof that only qualified, informed folk make decisions.

Regrettable (the deaths).....however my experience was that jeep rollovers resulted in more casualties than enemy action.....
