what bothered me about this hit was the smirk on Downies face when he went to the penalty box.

That whole team should go to hockey jail for a few months...I think it's in Siberia and the pay is only your meals!

The Flyers have crossed the line so many times, it's a joke. Tough hockey is one thing, but the Flyers are just a bunch of assholes. I can't wait until they miss the playoffs!

Really no surprise here, Downie pulled the same shit all through junior with Windsor/Peterborough and Kitchener, but really, I have seen players "suckered" several times over the years because of linesmen not having the arms wrapped up. Anybody remember back when he took out Mcammond, Blake was one of the more vocal NHL'ers saying that there is no room in the league for a guy like Downie, so maybe this was Downies reaction to the comments, either way, he is a punpkinhead.

The Flyers were lucky that Nittymaki was on his game that night....he was the only player on their team that had a good game.

That kid needs to have a little shit kicken for lunch on game. Why didn't someone on the Laf's give it to him. He however will get more than he likes soon, just when. Nobody has really welcomed him to the NHL the way a guy like him should be, with a good old fashion beating..

coltsrmint2 coltsrmint2:

I'm sure someone would have if the Leafs were up a couple goals but getting points is more importeant than retaliation....perhaps Belak will be on the ice next time they meet.

Dowie and the Flyers will keep on doing it cause the league has no intention on getting serious on "Unnecessary Roughness". The NHL is a friggin circus league now. Hockey should be played in a big top tent with clowns dancing around the ice between periods.

The Flyers are partly to blame as they have him in their line up. However, they can only control the controlable. This kid is a moron out there and if the league wants to do anything about it, they will, but the league really doesn't care.
As for the points, I think the game was pretty much out of the leafs hands by then. The reason they didn't get him is because they don't have the heart as a team to do anything about it.

ok I really dont think you can blame the flyers here for anything more then having him in the line up.

its obvious he has no common sense. and while I love the fact that my boys can kick some ass with the best of em, the sucker punch was a little bit of a low blow

Or make sure he's in the line up on January 20th and let McGratton take care of him - that will teach him. Or dress Emery as a forward since he's a bit smaller than McGratton, making it a little bit more even. Or the A-Train should just pulverized him with a huge legal hit (like he did on Paille last Friday). As long as it's legal, I don't have a problem with the schmuck getting some payback 8)
