He won't get his old job back.

He will likely be transferred to fisheries and oceans or something.

And this is the system that was supposed to "reduce waste and cut back on theft". Doesn't seem to be working to well now, does it.

How can a dockyard matey abuse his credit card like that while a department head on a ship has to account for every fucking penny he spends.

If what he says is true, I wouldn't be suprised to see the trail of corruption reach the upper echelons of management in the yard. After all it wouldn't be the first time this happened. only the method of theft has changed. Instead of stealing materials from the yard, now all you have to do is go buy them.

This is a very common practice these days. Many large corporation have credit cards given to certain employees, including most city employees. There's protocol for it's use and in the cases I've seen termination of employment if abused. There are usually check and balances done to ensure this kind of thing doesn't happen so I assume that his boss's head should also roll if he signed off on the expense.

This is funny:

Guy gets paid $69,000 a year and still thinks he's entitled to more so he steals from the DND with their credit card. He's in a divorce with his Ex who also works for DND and she blows the whistle.
Now, after 23 years, he's worried that he might loose his pension?

Congradulations, You are now the bad example. I'm sure theft is still a good enough reason for dismissal and good lock getting another job from those construction crews that you bambozzled the DND into paying.
