OMFG - it's shit like that that drove me out of Quebec 10 years ago. Funny, as a French speaking person in Quebec, I always felt oppressed - I can't even imagine the hell that people not speaking French at all are going through...

Any culture or language that requires a law to preserve itself is not worth preserving

The first response. That's all that needs to be said.

What's the story here, except that CTV and Brent Tyler are trying to stir up unrest?. How long would Albertans tolerate a government phone line that began in French? About 0.17 milliseconds. And they wouldn't have to apologize for it, or be tarred with the epithet 'activist'. If you live in Québec, you'd better enough tolerance of French to wait 3 seconds to hear "for english, press 2".

Bingo.

Well, I'd agree if Québec was a country in its own right. But it isnt.

Those poor anglo in Québec are soooo miserable.

Just take a look at this tread on the Montreal Gazette.

Nope that’s a little to fast, I think it would be more along the same time line that it would take Ontario to label us as Racists if Ed Stelmach said no to a Liberal proposal to fund religious schools in Alberta.

Resistance is futile----they will be assimilated.

More people speak portuguese in brazil than speak French in the whole F**king world.

I noticed with amusement that comment about there being more francophone countries than anglo-phone countries. That is BS.

Many small countries in Africa which are nominally french-speaking are not in practice. Only the ruling elite speak French and must also speak the African languages that the majority speak in order to rule. This is the case in Chad, Central African Republic, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Guinea, Zaire, Congo, Gabon etc.
