So the RCMP and gov't fucked up and now to fix their issues legal gun owners must be punished. Tell me how this is logical or even ethical?

Guns have a pr problem. In the states they have an entire industry set up to dress it up. Not so here. When one person goes on a killing spree a price needs to be paid.

Just locking up your guns and getting an FAC isn't the answer. This asshole got 95% of his guns from the USA. The neighbors knew this and when they went to the cops they said unless you got pictures we can't go. They knew he was an alcoholic and unstable but you can't send in social services if the spouse/girlfriend still has to live with him in fear of her life.

So if the cops can't go in and social services can't do anything and this guys can get all the guns he wants from the US what other options are on the table gun owners?

Most of the adult mass shooters in the US turn out to be domestic abusers too. You'd think by now that the police everywhere would take it more seriously when they get informed that assholes of this type are loading up on firepower. Christ, they're the most likely demographic to take their "collection" into active violent use so why the hell aren't the early indications of them getting ready to engage in hyper-violence given more credibility by the state agencies who absolutely have the power to stop them before they start killing?

You can't blame an inanimate object for the woes on society inflicted by a crazy person or the incompetence of the people charged with protecting us from the crazy person if you use logic and ethics.

The RCMP have wanted private gun ownership to end for decades. Any excuse they can use is a good excuse for them.

If I reported that my neighbour had illegal guns the RCMP would be at his door like yesterday. Why not in this case? Why were the RCMP protecting this psycho?

Enforcing existing laws might be an idea before bringing in new ones.

It's easier to blame non-violent gun owners who will never commit a crime in their entire lives for what that guy did than to take blame at the bureaucratic level for letting him stockpile. They knew he was dangerous and yet all the tools they have to prevent someone like that from collecting weapons failed. Cheap grandstanding as usual to say "let's just get rid of everyone's guns instead" rather than admit failure or that the previous gun-control methods that were brought in for nothing more than political theatre do nothing at all to stop potential mass killers.
