So then we have to ask; who is to blame? The people selling, or the people buying.

Both.

If they are not naming names, then there is a better than even chance that some prominent people are in on it.

In this day-and-age of mass surveillance spookery, it is naive to think the bad guys are unknown to the people who are paid to point fingers.

I disagree. There is only a market for something if someone is willing to buy it.
They wouldn't be selling girls if no one was buying.

Chicken meet egg.

Slavery while effectively extinct in the Civilized World, is still very much a thing for much of the uncivilized world

One of the causes, IMO the main cause, is stated in the article. " brokers who pay impoverished parents to marry off their daughters". Improvement of the family economics will curtail this from happening.

Also I say both because I got the impression that a lot of the sellers "brokers" as the article called them where Chinese in origin.

I will add this in so no one can come here and say that we are picking on Pakistan.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/india-rape ... 019-12-05/

"Lucknow, India – An Indian woman was in critical condition Thursday after allegedly being set on fire by two men she had accused of rape as she traveled to give evidence against them in court, police said."

India has a rape culture problem that has been going on for years if not decades. It does appear that it is slowly being taken seriously by the courts at least.

$1:
Improvement of the family economics will curtail this from happening.

This alone would solve so many problems, from Civil Disobedience to Slavery to Terrorism.

Human trafficking is a world-wide market. It is naive to think this demonism does not exist in our own country.

The CBC is distracting attention away from our own problems.

Note: I said effectively extinct; not extinct. It's like the Koala, it still exists, but it doesn't really play a role in the environment. Slavery exists, but does not play a role in the west's economy or social structure.

Ummm, no.

While we are certainly better than the 3rd world, to imply we are clean... nope.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_i ... st_century
$1:
Modern slavery is a multibillion-dollar industry with estimates of up to $150 billion each year.[82] International Justice Mission estimated that roughly 40.3 million individuals are currently caught in the slave trade industry.[83] International Justice Mission also reports that 1 in 4 victims of modern slavery is a child. The Global Slavery Index reports in 2018, there were 403,000 people living in condition of modern slavery in the United States.[84] India is first with 8 million, then China (3.6 million), Russia (794,000), Brazil (369,000), Germany (167,000), Italy (145,000), United Kingdom (136,000), France (129,000), Japan (37,000), Canada (17,000) and Australia (15,000).[84] Despite being illegal in every nation, slavery is still present in several forms today.

^^^

While Slavery might be illegal, human trafficking is big business, and right in your own city. (applies to everybody)
