"President Trump on Sunday blamed "political correctness" for a controversial decision at the Kentucky Derby that led to the disqualification of the apparent winner in favor of a 65-to-1 long shot.

"The Kentuky Derby decision was not a good one. It was a rough and tumble race on a wet and sloppy track, actually, a beautiful thing to watch," Trump wrote on Twitter, misspelling the state's name. "Only in these days of political correctness could such an overturn occur. The best horse did NOT win the Kentucky Derby - not even close!...'"

Trumps right, horse racing isn't a "non contact" sport. I watched the race again and what happened has been happening in thoroughbred racing since it first began so to claim that Maximum Security "impeded" another horses chance to win is taking the contact rule way to far.

Now the question becomes who the famous or infamous person or persons were who had a ton of money bet on Country House because that's the only way you'd ever get the Derby committee to suddenly change the rules of the game.

Here's a closeup of the alleged interference so I'd like someone to tell me who was impeding who. There's 4 horses all jockeying for position and if Maximum Security blocked the other horses, he did so because he was ahead. But you could also have ruled that the other 3 horses were blocking one another so, if this disqualification rule was applied fairly all 4 horses should be gone.

When asked if he did something wrong, the jockey answered "no, I don't think so".

We all know that means, "yes, but I was hoping I wouldn't get caught".

In unrelated news, Trump lost a small fortune this weekend. :D

It’s almost as if the President of The United States of America is a simpleton and has nothing better to do than tweet to the nation about sports nobody under 60 pays attention to.

And yeah I bet he and his degenerate gambling buddies lost a lot of money to the bookies and are now owned by the Russian Mafia even more than before . Good.

This was kind of like the refs deciding game 7 of a Stanley Cup final on a controversial video-call goal, in overtime after sending the losing team's best player to the penalty box.

The hubris of officials sometimes is staggering. Myself, I'm with Trump. I don't like them playing God with outcomes.

Although it pains me to say, I’m with Trump on this one. Looks like a relatively minor infraction that didn’t affect the outcome of the race.

The horse clearly prevented the other horses from passing. Despicable. Thats 2 minutes in the Horse-Sin-Bin.

Trump's comments don't matter. It's just his opinion and that has no effect on the outcome of the race.

Also, I think he got this one wrong. After looking at the video it's clear that Maximum Security almost caused a massive tumble of horses and riders and that's a safety violation that can't be ignored just because Maximum Security won.

The ruling was spot on. [B-o]

I wouldn’t advise the KD stewards to view the Grand National.

There’s always some interference in horse races.

Agree as well. From the clips I’ve seen, it was a clear attempt to block a faster horse and a potentially unsafe action. Shitty that it happened, but rules are rules.

Though for the most part, I could care less.
