Kind of like the bait car program. It doesn't solve the overall problem but it's something anyway.

There is a related article in this story about cell phone robberies that reminded me of a personal incident.

Several years ago I was approached on a street by two teen girls who asked me if I knew what time it was. I looked at my wristwatch and told them. One asked "Don't you have a cell phone to check the time?" I replied that I didn't but that I was pretty sure my watch is correct. They just said ok and walked away. My cell phone was on me but my senses told me not to pull it out. Perhaps part of why I'm still in the habit of wearing a watch. That sort of question just seems like a good lead-in for a would-be thief to grab your phone.

$1:
Officers left "bait" devices unattended and, after they were stolen, tracked the devices, found the thieves and arrested them.

I'm curious if anyone found these devices and then turned them in to the police or someone else as lost?

That would be interesting to know actually.

It helps towards maintaining my faith in my fellow human beings that there is still some honesty out there.
