"The manager of a popular Vancouver teahouse has been fired after refusing service to a Trump supporter.

A man wearing a Make America Great Again hat was refused service at the Teahouse in Stanley Park by the restaurant manager, according to the restaurant's management company.

$1:
A spokesperson for the Sequoia Company said the customer stated his right to express his political views, yet continued to be denied service, so he left."

The Sequoia Company says it opted to fire the restaurant manager for not abiding by its "philosophy of tolerance."

"Sequoia does not support intolerance of any kind, and it is because of these principles that we cannot discriminate against someone based on their support for the current administration in the United States or any other bona fide political party," Sequoia said in an official statement.

"The Teahouse has no political, ethnic or other bias and is committed to welcoming all visitors to Vancouver and treating all our customers with respect," reads the statement.

If you're not THE boss, you can unsurprisingly get fired.

Took guts to make a stand against an enemy of Canada know there'd be consequences up to and including losing a job. Wearing that hat in this country with the way Trump is treating us right now is the same as wearing a swastika during World War Two. It's only something a traitor or a really obnoxious American visitor would do.

Amazing how it works like that. Dude should have just said, “this is a fine dining restaurant, kindly remove your hat.”

Thanos Thanos:
Took guts It was complete stupidity to make a stand against an enemy of Canada to not serve a paying customer knowing there'd be consequences up to and including losing a job that the customer's business pays his wages. Wearing that hat in this country with the way Trump is treating us right now is the same as wearing a swastika during World War Two. should have no bearing on whether someone gets served or not in a place where they choose to spend their money.

Fixed.

Oh, and comparing a MAGA hat to wearing a swastika? You must have suffered a serious head injury to make a garbage statement like that. I'd rather see someone wear something as dumb as a MAGA Trump hat, than some piece of garbage white supremacist with his Neo-nazi crap.

They haven't done their worst yet. You'll see it in due course. Regardless that particular ideology has declared war on our country. Anyone wearing it in Canada these days deserves to get their face slapped for siding with an enemy.

If Trudeau Sr did that they it was one of the most reprehensible acts he ever committed, and anyone who forgave him for it was just as disgusting as he was in doing it.

You think as an Albertan that I'm harbouring some great love for Pierre Trudeau, the man who nearly cost my dad his job and my family our home thanks to the NEP? :?

Anyone not supporting your political mantra deserves to be physically abused?
So much for free speech and democracy dude.
With a little luck you will someday encounter me wearing my MAGA hat and you can strut your stuff.

Guess he would have to have told ALL other patrons to remove their headgear as well then.
Free speech is just that. You either support it or you don't.

If you wear a hat with that cheap slogan on it then you're as much of a pig as the bastard who wrapped his election campaign around it.

A warning might have been in order before dismissal. When the US President is such a petulant imbecile it's hard to avoid getting caught up in these things but we must try to because tolerance of political beliefs, no matter how ridiculous, is part of who we are.
