Zhou, and others gathered, took issue with the response to a Toronto girl's claim earlier this month that an Asian man cut her hijab.
They appear to be objecting to the blanket designation of "Asian" in the media.
For example here's the Star:

When her attacker pulled her hood down, she said he cut her hijab from the bottom up. Terrified, she turned to face him — a young Asian male, roughly 5-foot-8 to six feet tall, wearing black pants, a black hoodie and brown gloves. He had a moustache, the girl told police, and glasses, too. He was smiling at her.
I'm guessing Zhou and the others don't view themselves as the sort of "Asians" that we're being fingered as the perp, and yet they were being asked to bear the cross. So to speak.
