It probably doesn't matter that they have the evidence to prove self defense because in America now, when a cop kills a minority person it's always the cop's fault.

Honestly nothing could be further from the truth. Look at the literally dozens of police shootings. There is only a 35% conviction rate of the police officer. Even when they intentionally turned off their body cams, dash cams and whatever else should have provided eye witness proof.

I get the cops have a sh*tty job, but they have no right to be shooting people who don't deserve it. Body cams should be mandatory everywhere then there is no question. This most recent shooting is just a prime example of why cops *need* to have cameras rolling all the time.

Nowhere did I say cops guilty of killing someone illegally shouldn't be prosecuted to the max but, there has to be a reason for the low conviction rates for police officers "accused" of murder especially considering that the jury's making these findings are usually composed of people from all walks of life and all races including the minority one.

Not every police killing or arrest is a Rodney King like situation where the police walk when they shouldn't have but, by the same token not every black kid in America is another innocent upstanding pillar of the community which is what some other people want you to believe.

I won't get into the numbers or causes about black crime in America but just suffice to say that it's out of all proportion when compared to other ethnic groups a fact which likely fuels the misconception that most black youth are always going to be gangbangers or criminals.

Unfortunately anti police propaganda has done such a great job of vilifying the police for everything that happens while in some cases ignoring the truth or laws, that even the innocent officers involved these shootings are almost always found guilty in the court of public opinion by people who have an axe to grind or are prone to jumping to conclusions and then acting on them without knowing all the facts.

But, for the record I completely agree that all the police should be required to have all their camera's rolling all the time, not just for the public's protection but also for their own.

Honestly, have you ever asked yourself why people vilify cops, but not soldiers? It's because everyone has had at least one run-in with a super cop on a power trip. That douche that talked down to you like you were trash, or accused you of something you didn't do, twisted words to their advantage, or ticketed you for something minor while berating or lecturing you. Unfortunately their profession not only attracts personalities that crave power over others, but it also breeds people into being authoritarian aholes who sadistically enjoy that power. You are what you experience.

These cops experience low life garbage all day long. Liars, thieves and scum. That changes you. But it doesn't excuse you treating everyone you meet the same way. Especially the same people who pay your wages and you are paid to protect and serve. If you can't handle the job without getting broken along the way and taking it out on normal people, you're in the wrong job, or should ask for a transfer behind a desk. Cops get painted with the same brush largely because they almost always blindly support fellow officers too. Rather than rooting out their own rubbish and cleaning up their image, they form the Blue Wall of silence and protect their worst. Not cool.

A lesson could be learned from places like Germany where their police actually live to protect and serve.
