Same here. If I was her I'd be suing that arrogant piece of crap detective for assault. But just one question. Where were the rest of the ER staff when this happened. Maybe if one of the senior ER doctors had stood up for her and explained the hospital policy the outcome of this whole sordid affair might have ended differently for her?

That guy was so out of control any staff interfering with him would have got violently arrested too or even injured. Hopefully his badge and gun are locked up in his CO's desk right now while he's on suspension, with that suspension including drug testing because that kind of tantrum and rage isn't uncommon with someone addicted to something like cocaine.

From my understanding, when she's on the phone, that's her supervisor explaining the situation to that meathead cop ("you're making a huge mistake right now").

My question is why did the other cops not try to rein this guy in? They acted like this was normal.

Agreed. Something stinks in this story.

I would expect most folks in the same situation would take the opportunity to call it a day and go home.

$1:
In response to the incident, Judd said the department updated its blood draw policy last week to mirror what the hospital staff uses.
Oh, I get it!
The law governing this professional's field of expertise changes and none of them know about it! That makes perfect sense!!

Just saw it on the news. Captain Fantastic is now under investigation and suspended so hopefully he'll reap what he sowed.

$1:
The detective who violently arrested a Salt Lake City nurse for not allowing police to draw blood from an unconscious patient is now the subject of a criminal investigation and on paid administrative leave.
Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill announced Friday that he wants a criminal investigation into the July 26 arrest of University of Utah Hospital nurse Alex Wubbels. The arrest was captured on multiple police body cameras.

"In fairness to all those involved I have requested a criminal investigation into the incident so that the District Attorney's office could screen the matter after gathering all the facts," Gill stated. "Our office had not received any materials on the matter thus far and in the interest of justice and given the prima facie evidence a criminal investigation is warranted."

Salt Lake City Mayor Jackie Biskupski said as a result of the criminal investigation, the arresting officer, detective Jeff Payne, will be placed on full administrative leave with pay.

Mayor Jackie Biskupski called Payne’s actions “completely unacceptable to the values of my administration and of the values of the Salt Lake City Police Department,” in a statement Friday, the Tribune reported.

“I extend a personal apology to Ms. Wubbels for what she has been through for simply doing her job,” Biskupski added.

An Internal Affairs investigation that will examine the actions of the arrest, will work with the Civilian Review Board in a parallel investigation, according to the Salt Lake City Tribune.

He could have been a senior officer and if that's the case shame on them for not doing the right thing.

I am a Very strong supporter of the police department. I have a cousin in the police department and I am a Blue Lives Mater supporter, however this incident is a total outrage . Theirs jerk Is nothing more than a bully carrying a badge with a great deal of authority and is armed. he is a disgrace to the force and needs to be removed from both the shield and that uniform.

It's up to 'good cops' to stop 'bad cops' from engaging in criminal behavior. The others allowing this to happen bear some of the guilt....major lawsuit incoming for that prick. Off to IT.
