My goodness, the NDP are willing to turn coal towns turn into ghost towns by phasing out coal, but they'll spend $5M to save a dozen gas stations and bulk dealers.

The whole fucking world is phasing out coal. Get used to it!
And you want to criticize the gov't for trying to alleviate the effects?

Yes, I do.

Modern coal plants are extremely efficient, compared to the existing models. The infrastructure is already in place. It would cost a fraction of the cost to upgrade the existing plants versus switching to more gas, solar, wind production, and would net the same environmental gains.

But...coal = bad. So, forget everything else.

Mmm hmm. Let's export all the natural gas and use coal at home. Right.

You mean the natural gas that is at the same efficiency as modern coal, because gas is still considered good?

It's called securing your position before making drastic changes. I know, common sense, something gooberments are unfamiliar with.

Alberta’s NDP politicians are determined to fix an air-quality problem, but there’s no evidence it exists
