Way too many dogs get put down because way too dogs go through the system and there's not enough demand. As it is, I'd prefer we put efforts into the ones that don't need rehabilitation and get them good homes because we are still putting down good dogs.
Better still would be to put efforts into lowering the number of dogs that go through the system.

I've tried to get a rescue pitbull, or most other kinds of dogs through the Edmonton Humane Society. They are usually adopted shortly after their picture goes up on the website. It's like people wait in the parking lot with a tablet, refreshing the website every 5 minutes!
Even the ones labelled 'fear aggressive' get snatched up.
That's the way to lower the number of pets in the system, go get one that's already potty trained and past the chewing on the couch stage. Sister has two dogs she got from a different rescue society, and they are the best dogs ever!
