Lemmy Lemmy:
Ditto. Sad that he passed, but a "legend"? Mmmm, no. Good guitar player? Talented showman? Sure, but a couple of minor pop hits 30 years ago does not a legend make.

He is one of the greatest singer/songwriters of all time, by any measure, he played a couple dozen instruments very well, he was one of the best guitar players ever, compared to Hendrix even. Go to YouTube and look for Prince with Tom Petty, and Jeff Lynne, at George Harrison's rock and roll hall of fame induction, playing While my guitar gently weeps, watch starting around 3:20 in and you will see one of the best guitar solo's ever. His music wasn't really my thing either, but to deny that he was truly brilliant is just a little misinformed.

It's a good solo. But it's a noodle. It's not composed. Exaggerations don't elevate his legacy.

"Misinformed"? Smarten up.

Since personal tastes are personal, you can't determine an artist's legacy by how much you love or hate his contribution to the industry. In Prince's case, just look at how many people loved what he did and you can see that his legacy is pretty good.
