Depends. If a heavier-than-air aeroplane can't make it against some of those northern winds without getting shredded or knocked down then a lighter-than-air vessel wouldn't stand a chance. This sounds like a great idea in theory that suddenly reveals a massive flaw on it's first encounter with reality, i.e. a sudden hundred KPH Arctic wind that drops the temperature down to -50 C. Not a lot of predicatably good or calm days to count on up there to make this immediately viable.

With shorter and shorter seasons for winter roads, these would be great for resupplying fly in communities in Canada's near north. Wind isn't usually a problem here in the bush.

Here's a radical idea: Why not have them move to someplace easier to supply or else let them be 'sovereign' and don't supply them at all?
