No, because non-Torontonian Ontarians are sick of Toronto gobbling up all our provincial taxes. The argument we're told is "Toronto is the engine, so everyone must support it". Well, if that's true provincially it's also true nationally. So if I, in rural Ontario, am responsible for funding Toronto infrastructure, then everyone else in Canada ought to be similarly responsible. So, yeah, spread the pain nationally instead of continuing to saddle rural Ontarians will the responsibility of maintaining Canada's economic engine.

Are you really suggesting that Kathleen Wynne is a truthful politician?

Wynne was at odds with the Harper government over a variety of issues that have seemed to have faded since JT came to power. Particularly, equalization.

How can an issue be so divisive with Harper in office simply disappear when the Federal Liberals come to power?

She supported JT to support the Liberal brand/party. Nothing wrong with that. There's no need to BS us into telling us that it's all about good Federal/Provincial relations.

It's probably both for the moment, but you'll note that federal and Pronvincial politics aren't necessarily aligned and the federal and provincial branches of the parties aren't necessarily either.

A more truthful reading is that Wynne and JT currently have enough common ground - ideologically and politically - that they can play nice and feel they can mutually benefit from close association. That may not last, but for the time being it's convenient.

Nor did Harper show any desire to play nice with her. Such is the nature of partisan politics. Any blame for whatever friction there was between Ottawa and Queen's Park is as much the federal Conservatives' fault as anyone's. Ask Conservative premiers what it was like dealing with Mackenzie King or Liberal premiers what it was like dealing with Mulroney. Like-minded people are always going to get along better. People on the same team are likely to get along better. Do you go for beers with the guys on the other team after your games?

This just smells like bitter conservatives looking for a controversy where none exists.
