You have got to be kidding me. He was fined a freaking loonie. How appropriate in today's version of court. Waste of time and resources if this is the result.

How's that legal to order someone to donate to a charity?
It's legal to order restitution, whether the party is the victim of fraud or vandalism for example. Usually the money is paid to the court, and the court makes the victim whole. But the deer doesn't have a bank account so . . .
