Great! Except that the house is going to recess for the summer and then go into a fall election, so none of the 'tough on crime' legislation they are rushing to introduce will ever be passed into law.

"Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury
Signifying nothing." - Hamlet, A5,S5

Yeah this is all just showboating. It's too late to pass anything. They are justw asting time at this point. People wonder why there is such cynicism out there.

Ummm correct me if I'm wrong but, don't highway traffic act laws fall under provincial jurisdiction?

Nothing to do with civil traffic act laws, this is criminal, ie federal.

Never mind, I figured out my confusion. The provinces generally hold the power and authority to institute legal proceedings for offences under Canada's Criminal Code.

Why not make the punishment for any crime at all DEATH.
Then they will have to concentrate on actual government instead of boring us with another Crime Bill every 48 hours for ten more years?

Once upon a time, a long time ago it fell under the highway and traffic acts. I think that ended in the 60s though, when you were fined. Have to ask Methuselah Yogi though.
