Too many people follow the "price is everything" motto and don't bother to look at quality and the rest of the big picture. Even my kids know that toys from the dollar store are crap, so they don't buy them.
Wal-Mart provides sub-standard products combined with sub-standard service. I have no idea why people would subject themselves to shitty products and shitty service to pay a few dollars less. I spend my money at local stores or some of the big chains that offer a good product and service.
Another tidbit of information that most Wal-Mart customers don't know is that with every "Rollback" comes a "Rollup". For them to drop a 20 cents off of an item, the price of another (or multiple) will increase. Their associates do tons of price changes on a weekly basis.
That's certainly true as I've seen the prices of things fluctuate from week to week on a number of things. We shop there every couple of weeks, but its mostly for eggs, milk and other staples (they have a brand of Eggs with Omega-3 we really like). Typically, we spread our dollars around to a wide variety of stores - last weekend we went to Costco, Walmart, Sobey's, T&T, Superstore and No Frills. The bulk of our dollars typically go to Costco though.
Despite their reputation, I've often found items for less at Sobey's or even Safeway. That's because their price match policy only includes items in the weekly flyers and on everything in the store, so while some things are cheap, others are just as, or more expensive, than items at their competitors.
