Horses can look good for the Derby and Preakness but die in the Belmont because of the extra length so, I wouldn't put any money down just yet. Hell I wouldn't put any money down at all.

My guess is two wins one loss with another unknown winning the Belmont.

They said he couldn't handle the length either. I still get the chills watching him prove the experts wrong. Sham tried to burn him out in the first half. Didn't work. They could have hit Secretariat over the head with a big hammer that day. It wouldn't have slowed him down one step. Sometimes it's just your time.

Most likely never see anything like that again though. Still...would be nice.

It's still a longshot. There have only been 11 triple crown winners since it started but, there have been 21 horses won the Derby and Preakness but lost in the Belmont.

So, I wish California Chrome good luck but I still don't like his chances. BTW Seattle Slew, Affirmed and Secretariat were exceptions and not the rule especially considering they all won their Triple Crowns in one decade.
