1. technically correct, we can't prevent it. Lots of places use either the USD or Euro as local currency.
But they have no influence on the monetary policy of that currency.

That could happen if this separation gets ugly.

4. Passports.
An excellent opportunity to change the Canadian citizenship situaition, to either be Canadian and only Canadian, or not.

Once again, Quebeckers get fed only one version of
separation, the one that is most palatble to them, full of lies and half truths.

I don't think that it matters to us what currency an independent Quebec might use. The U.S. greenback is another possibility for them. There is no mechanism to stop that. What will matter to us is their "demand" that they have some say in Bank of Canada policy. Why would we surrender any of our sovereignty to foreigners?

Since Canada allows dual passports and citizenships, they are correct that all
Quebecers who are Canadian citizens on day 1 of separation, will in fact be able to stay Canadian, with full rights to passports, CPP (as in QCers working outside QC), OAS, the lot.

The current rules will only affect children born in the future, and that can be overcome easily enough, with 'open borders', those who want go to Ontario or New Brunswick to deliver children. Instant citizen.

They would use our own rules to abuse us until we change them.

After a "yes" vote separation needs to be negotiated (on day 1 after a yes vote Quebec will still be a province), and I have no doubt that the issue of citizenship will be on the table.

Canada should make it clear that an independent Quebec can't have its cake and eat it too.

As it stands, with an unseparated Quebec, it is cheaper to ship via US then through Quebec to the coast.

Exactly. Most of Northern Quebeck will remain in Canada if the various tribes decide to stay. Just as the Quebeckers have a right to self-determination then so do the First Nations.
