Two lessons to learn: Don't post your plans for future illegal activities on the Internet and if you do, don't use your real email address to do it. And, things posted on the Internet can remain forever. Think before you post!

What a shame he was caught. Anymore I see things like this as necessary acts of defiance in the face of a Brobdingnaglian state.

Whaaaaaaat?

$1:
Ulbricht also is charged in Maryland with ordering first the torture, and then the murder, of an employee from an undercover agent. He feared the employee would expose his alias as Dread Pirate Roberts, a fictional character. Court records say he wired the agent $80,000 after he was shown staged photos of the employee's faked torture.

I'll admit I'm a bit outspoken at times, but I would not suggest legalizing murder for hire like you seem to be doing here.

$100 says Ubricht never stands for the charges in Maryland. That's because I believe they were just a convenient ruse to get him to run. And it worked, that's why that gambit gets played so much - but typically on Americans who are outside of the USA like Edward Snowden.

Well I don't own any tin-foil hats. This kind of outlaw "free market" breeds gangsterism, it's not a very far fetched lie if it is one. Maybe it's something about selling drugs being a victimless crime and all, that positively reinforces otherwise sensible people when they flout the law and profit. Bob's your uncle, and pavlov's your dog. You've got a new thug.

$1:
The first indictment alleged Ulbricht tried to hire a hit man to get rid of a drug dealer who had obtained a list of Silk Road drug customers.
...
"Dread Pirate Roberts," has been charged in a second federal indictment alleging he tried to hire a contract killer over his secret network to kill an "employee."

$1:
Reached by phone in Austin, Texas, Ubricht's parents said they had not known what their son was doing in San Francisco.

"He is a really stellar, good person and very idealistic," said Ulbricht's mother, Lyn Lacava. "I know he never meant to hurt anyone."

Ulbricht's father Kirk confirmed his son had received a master's in material sciences from Pennsylvania State University. His thesis was titled: "Growth of EuO Thin Films by Molecular Beam Epitaxy."

"He did amazing research on crystals and exotic materials they hoped would have some use for humans," Ulbricht said. "But it was very theoretical stuff."
