I think that it's a fantastic memorial. Let's see more of this sort of thing to keep the history alive when the veterans are all gone.

"The challenge is to re-create a work that is as powerful as the photograph, but in the sense that we're re-addressing it into a new time period," Edwin told CBC news

:?
Sounds like they are going to completely mess it up with that revisionist nonsense.

Indeed. The little boy will be 're-imagined' into a Mohawk, mom will be Jamaican, and dad will be a Sikh. :|

I don't know what your beef is with the Mohawk but they are an authentic warrior culture that has provided a disproportionate number of fighters to every war that North Americans have been involved in. The U.S. Marines were full of Mohawk during Vietnam. They still sign up in large numbers. You could do no better that to "re-imagine" that kid as Mohawk. Mohawk soldiers are the real deal.

p.s. They didn't wait for Pearl Harbour to go to war.

I think we'll be fine with the warrior culture depicted in the original photo... not to diminish the others mentioned. [B-o]

to Bart's point: re-imagining and "modernising" (diversifying the shot to reflect modern day BC) the photo would be a disservice to those that volunteered in the first place and who had to leave their families (wives and children) at home...
