So, um, you guys going to help us spread some peace and freedom?

I know what you're thinking, but don't worry. We have a bonafide Nobel Peace Prize winner at the helm.

Looks like Sen. McCain will have a new war to cheer about. Nothing like a wounded veteran who's a tad over-eager to create even more wounded veterans.

Well, since there's no way Canada's military can afford to go to war right now I guess we'll have to see what happens when Harper's hawkishness has to compete with his fiscal conservatism.

Based on what we've seen every other time fiscal conservatism has clashed with anything else... better start planning bon voyage parties for any military friends you have.

Eh, I'm not sure. I'm expecting a token commitment of a few aircraft being deployed from Cyprus, or one of our ships in some NATO battlegroup in the Med., much like Libya.

You're probably right. I'm most likely being a little extra pessimistic and cynical. Blame it on the weather :)

Haha no worries. Maybe we'll get some new fighter-bombers in time to give them some combat training in Syria...

The way our military procurement goes...? Maybe we'll get some new fighter-bombers in time for combat training in hyperspace.

Could there be a bit of the 'Wag the Dog' thing going on here?

The Obama gang has been getting hit by a crapload of inconvenient scandals lately. Can't you kind of see them sitting around Chicago style plotting strategy on some way of distracting from the scandals. Looking for a diversion?

Something like...

"OK whata we got?"

"Well, we hinted we'd jump in on Syria if evidence turned up that chemical weapons were being used?"

"Anything there we can use. Can we sell that one?"

"Sure, somebody was doing something with some kind of chemical a while back, I think. We'll give a few of our favorites at Politico, WaPo and the NY Times a pat on the head and a 'attaboy'. They'll sell it."

Who knows? Whatever the reasons, getting involved in any way is a bad idea. The US wants to help? Send help to Jordan, Lebanon, and turkey so they deal properly with the refugees.

Any takers on how soon it'll take the 'rebels' to turn their new weapons on them 'damn Yankees'?? Funny that the Americans are arming the enemies of a government that protects Christians and women from Islamic fundies(see enemy).
