Is it just me, or are we starting to get silly about treating and saving every single injured animal we find?

So long as this is done with private funds who should care?

You know what? Considering that 99.99% of the time the turtle is just left to die slowly on the road, its nice to hear about someone making a big effort to help a "worthless" animal. Its the one good outcome in a million, and a compassionate act to ease the suffering of a creature. I dont know why people need to complain about it. Good for the pilot.

I second that. If we don't start doing more things like this, an start giving more of a damn about our wildlife, we won't have any wildlife left.

I used to hunt turtles to eat them.

But no, I would never let an animal suffer needlessly. I remember finding a porcupine while hiking when I was young. It had been obviously attacked but the attacker had given up. Never would I had thought to bring it to the vet, but I did take it out of its misery. :(
