$1:
The survey, which was conducted between April 10 and 12 by Abacus Data for radio station VOCM, suggests that Liberal candidate Yvonne Jones, a former leader of the provincial Liberals in Newfoundland and Labrador, is well ahead of both Mr. Penashue and NDP candidate Harry Borlase.

Ms. Jones had the support of 63 per cent of the decided poll respondents, compared to 20 per cent who said they would vote for Mr. Penashue and 17 per cent who said they favoured Mr. Borlase.
...
The survey suggests that Mr. Penashue has little room to grow his support with 57 per cent of respondents saying they would not consider voting Conservative this time around. And, despite Conservative messages touting the investments that Mr. Penashue brought to Labrador, a majority of those taking part in the poll said they did not believe that to be the case.

$1:
Last week, Penashue told a crowd of supporters that he'd held up projects for Newfoundland in order to guarantee money for Labrador.

$1:
In question period, Liberal MP Scott Andrews asked if Prime Minister Stephen Harper would reveal which projects Penashue had held up in Newfoundland.

"Can he help poor old Peter out and inform this House exactly what projects were held up, or was Peter just making it up?" Andrews asked.

Wow, what a revelation. The party in power loosing a by-election. Like that didn't happen all through the last Liberals reign. Oh, and the Conservatives before them, lets not forget the liberals before that...and so on, and so on, and so on. Oh yeah, that must mean the Conservatives are going to get wiped out in the next Federal Election...... PDT_Armataz_01_05

Really?

The (former) Intergovernmental Affairs minister and (former) president of the Queen's Privy Council says he personally held up projects in one part of the country to benefit his riding. After resigning because of shady accounting. You don't think that's the slightest bit interesting?

I do.

The only thing I find surprising is that the voters are smart enough NOT to re-elect this crook.

$1:
Mr. Penashue resigned from Parliament in March after after an Elections Canada investigation found his campaign accepted 28 illegal donations, including $18,710 from Provincial Airlines and $27,850 from other corporate donors. He has since repaid the money with the help of the Conservative party.

As usual, the media has made this out to be a "dramatic" shift here in Canada. Drama is all the news media is about these days. Sorry, but by-elections are boring and they go pretty much the same way every time, especially once a political party has been in power for awhile. No news here.

If Harper farted you'd find outrage in it.

You'd probably sent the air sample out for testing too.
