I would as well, I have no issue with Chinese on signs, but I do object to Chinese ONLY signs. We dont' live in China and there is a limit to acceptance and freedoms. This is Canada first, everything else is secondary.

If we're going to restrict Chinese-Canadians, are we going to do the same with the Italians, Polish, Greeks and everyone else?

Right after we get rid of Hong Dim Sum, we can eliminate the scourge of Cafe Trattoria, Koutouki Taverna and all the rest!

I would say yes, but ooops I forgot we have Quebec where it's ILLEGAL to have English on signs that is larger and in front of Quebecois. So if your asking me to limit this I say yes without question with a caveat that I know in reality it will never happen.

So much for equal under any laws right?

Everyone knows that when in Rome it's do as the Romans do and since Richmond is now part of China, we should be embracing their culture, heritage and language because we don't often get to visit a completely foreign country, especially when it's located in the middle of one of our provinces.

I can remember a few years ago when the shop owners in China East were complaining about not being able to attract their kids to shop there because of the old Chinese stigma they got from only having Chinese signs. Well it appears they didn't resolve the issue and their kids are likely shopping in Metro Town leaving their businesses to suffer because they're to arrogant to use that language of commerce that the rest of the world uses FUCKING ENGLISH.

I understand why they proposed this but all one has to do is look at Quebec and the language fascists there to see how wrong this kind of law can go in a hurry.

Just wait a generation before we freakout. After the influx of Chinese from the mainland dies down and they've been here for a generation all the signs will be in English and their kids will have orange hair, baggy pants, ride the Skytrain to Metro Town and be called Bob. Then we'll have moved on to some other stupid immigrant crusade.

Like stopping East Indians from driving dump trucks.

This is much ado about nothing and if they want to lose business because of their language prefernces let them because an idiot in any language is still and idiot.
