Step 1: beavers kill easy with a .22.
Step 2: beavers taste good. Excellent roasted.
Step 3: pelt makes excellent trim on gloves, hoods etc.

Yes, except it's illegal to kill fur-bearing animals normally harvested by trappers. And it's also illegal to use a rifle for shooting on the water (because of the likelihood of ricochets).

Yes, good-eating meat.

$1:
Step 3: pelt makes excellent trim on gloves, hoods etc.

Also true. Makes good trapper-style hats too (the ones with the flaps that can be bow-tied on the crown).

Mohawk Land, Mohawk Law. .22 are used all the time in beaver harvest.

Then they wouldn't have needed Cree trappers.

They should try using Appletinis and soft music, its been a highy effective way to get beavers. Not much fur on them nowadays but they eat a lot more wood than they used to.

I have to recommend against firing a round into random beavers. In fact, thats how some beavers end up trapping men.

I've also heard that some of the older beavers seem to prefer younger wood. 8O
