It's probably a good thing - everyone I know with an iPhone thought the Apple-designed app was terrible anyways. Maybe now a proper app can be developed by someone else.

Have you actually used your iPhone to make a phone call? They only make a half assed puzzle.....unless you toss it into traffic.

I've used my brother's on occasion - I wasn't very impressed. It's shiny and has lots of bells and whistles (apps), but he had to spend a small fortune for said bells and whistles, nevermind the cost of the phone and the 3 year term.
I guess I'm just a cheapo at heart - I want a smartphone, but I don't want one that's going to cost me $5000 over the course of a contract. There are other phones that work just as well IMHO at far less cost.
Apple is great for people who can afford/don't mind upgrading every other year, but I expect my technology to last longer than that. It's why I think PCs are far better - I can replace/upgrade individual components instead of having to purchase a whole new computer ike I would with a Mac.

Apple's latest strategy is to remove features to compete with Google?
Nice, that should work.
You can still go to Youtube in the browser, they're only removing the dedicated link.
Turn-by-turn navigation is the feature that is really lacking on iCrap.

Apple has to be careful here or they're going to end up like some of the other companies.
People don't care what Apple wants or what petty disagreements they may have with other companies, they have an expectation of certain features on their phone or tablet.
Nobody gives a shit that Apple doesn't like Google, give them what they want or people won't buy your product. This beef with Flash and now Google isn't good news for Apple.

Google is going headstrong now, specially with the new Nexus tab. Although personally I am a bit dissapointed at the lack of Microsofts marketing for their new OS. Hopefully they will pull themselves up by the boots by the time launch surface.
Right now I am pretty impressed by Andriod ICS which works seamlessly even on a very cheap mid spec generic chinese tab.

Yet another reason I dislike proprietary platforms like this with a single point of distribution for apps. In this case it doesn't change much though since you can still navigate to Google/YouTube in the browser.
