She and her government's DEMANDS to the U.N. are getting decidedly old. The Falklands are British, by right of territorial acquisition, hertiage and choice.

Demands become louder as the RN ties up ships and the British Army looks at troop cutbacks.

Kirchner is doing poorly and the Argentine economy is foundering so this smells like she's trying to look heroic at home. If things get much worse for her it won't surprise me to see the Argentines take another stab at seizing the islands no matter how poor their chances are at success.

how about she demand from the end of her military. The people of the Falklands voted overwhelmingly to remain under British rule. You want to start a fight, I am sure the UK will end it.

To be fair, the only reason that matters is the choice one.

It's one of the oldest political strategies in the book - when your jurisdiction is in the crapper, look for an outside/foreign enemy you can blame your problems on.

I'd pay good money to see the British whoop the Argies again. Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Not really interested in seeing Kipper/Argie sailors roasted alive for some rocks.

You?

There's a possibility of oil there, that's why it's heating up. Argentina has never held those Islands, they have no legitimate claim on them at all. Britain should tell them where to go in no uncertain terms.

True, nobody want to see anybody fighting over rocks, but then again if those rocks are your home it is a different case. There are times and situations worth fighting for defending your home is one of them.

That us about what they are doing. The UK government is telling the Argies that as long as the Falkland Islanders want to keep speaking English they can FO.

Political posturing and very unlikely to be much more.

Not enough going on here I think to warrant cheer leading for this:

The moment Argentina does more than make some noise, then maybe those of us not going can pull out our pom poms.

I hope you are right and this is just political posturing.

http://www.mercurynews.com/nation-world ... don-warmup

The Argentines seem to have a pattern of resorting to violence when things do not go their way. Here we have Argentine tennis player David Nalbandian assaulting the line judge on British soil in London no less!
