We could afford these before but now we can't. What are we paying for now that's more important than the Coast Guard?

This going beyond cutting fat. They're cutting into healthy tissue and essential organs.

If the governments of this country keep going the way they are, within 20 years Canada will be the biggest 3rd world shithole on the planet.

$1:
The closures mean the entire B.C. coast will be served by two communications centres in Prince Rupert and Victoria that will undergo major upgrades.

This is part of a major reorganization of coast guard services. The federal government will shut down 10 communication centres across Canada, leaving a total of 12 nationwide.

Did our country's coastline suddenly shrink? 2 communications centres for BC? Seriously? Have any of the assholes in Ottawa looked at a friggin' map to see just how far apart Prince Rupert and Victoria are???

$1:
"The safety of Canadians and mariners is the top priority of the Canadian Coast Guard," said Ashfield, in a statement issued on Thursday.

Of course... people first

Gunnair Gunnair:

Well, it'll change after the first major loss of life.

Well, that is freaking pathetic... and completely unacceptable.

IMO of course...

But who the hell am I? And why should my opinion make any freaking diff?

I pray for all who use the waters of our country's coast... for business or pleasure.

I posted a whole article that they couldn't possibly cut back as much as they are and only cut fat. Didn't seem to draw much interest, till the cutbacks affect people personally. But we've gotta keep those taxes low, right?

It sounds lke you're sulking because you didn't get any attention. I suspect it was lost in the plethora of personal agenda driven messages you shower the forums with daily.

Please, we're having a discussion here that does not need to be driven off the tracks because of your negative attention seeking issues.
